Today, Khoi Wilson-Nuvayestewa and Isabella Salvador, our MDS Brave and Princess, represented our school and community at the Hopi Chairman and Vice Chairman's Inauguration held at Moenkopi Legacy Inn. This meaningful event celebrated the leadership and traditions of our Hopi people, and our students demonstrated respect, dignity, and cultural pride throughout the occasion. We are grateful to Chairman Lamar Keevama and Vice Chairman Mikah Kewanimptewa, Sr. for including us in this important celebration. Photo Credit: S. Hongeva

March 9, 2026 We had the incredible honor of welcoming Navajo author Brian Young to MDS, and let me tell you—the energy was electric! Mr. Young shared his inspiring story and read aloud to our students and staff, bringing his words to life in the most captivating way. Plus, our 2nd-6th graders each got to take home a copy of *Legendary Frybread Drive-In*. You can also check out his other published novel, *Healer of the Water Monster* Talk about a day to remember! Thank you to Clifford Kaye of the Hopi Leadership Program for bringing Brian Young to Moenkopi.
